Query Info

Stuff I wish I knew before I ever started querying. Agents have blogs and include very helpful information about writing query letters on them. I think back on my first query letter and laugh…after crying a little.

Kristin Nelson Pub Rants
This is one of my favorites. She has a great pitch workshop as well as example query letters. I followed her advice and managed to get two partial requests from her on my first and second manuscripts.

Nathan Bransford
Check out his Query Essentials section. He says “When in doubt, query me first.” *Sigh* If only NB represented romance.

Jennifer Jackson – Et in arcaedia, ego
Her query wars put into perspective how low the request rate for an agent can be. So a rejection doesn’t mean your query sucks. If you’re getting a 20-30% request rate, be happy!

Jessica Faust
Good info on what goes on behind the scenes in an agency for the whole query/submission/rejection process.
